Your first book in StoriesDen
Ten steps from an empty bookshelf to a book for sale. You don't have to do them in order or do all of them — skip what your book doesn't need, and come back to any step whenever you like.
-
Start a book
Where: Bookshelf
Give it a title and press Create book. Everything after this belongs to that book: its plan, its chapters, its editions and its sales. The free plan works on one book at a time; a subscription removes the limit.
-
Say what it is about
Where: Plan → Book Description
A few lines on the story, the genre and who it is for. Every AI tool in StoriesDen reads this first, so a good description makes everything after it better.
-
Shape the story
Where: Outline · Structure · Chapter Plan
Write your outline — it numbers itself as you type — and, if you like, lay the story on a structure too: three-act, seven-point or the hero's journey. Chapter Plan turns the outline into what each chapter is for, which is shown beside the chapter while you write it.
-
Build the cast and the world (as much as you need)
Where: Characters List · Compendium · World History · Vocabulary
Characters, places, history and the invented words your book uses. Vocabulary matters more than it looks: the spelling check is told those words are right, so it stops flagging your character names. In a series, the world is shared by every book in it.
-
Bring in what you already have
Where: Write → Import a draft · Library → Supporting Documents
Already written some of it? Upload the manuscript to your Document Library as a Word file (.docx), a PDF or plain text — or paste it — and Import a draft splits it into chapters, with the title page, dedication and the rest placed as front and back matter. You see the split before anything is added, and you can undo it. Research notes go in the Library too, and a Google Doc can come in by its share link.
-
Write
Where: Write
One chapter at a time, saved as you type. Focus hides everything but the page. History keeps earlier versions of each chapter — every ten minutes while you work, and always before a large cut or an AI change — so nothing you delete is gone for good.
-
Revise
Where: Write → Writing tools
Switch on the checks you want — grammar and style, spelling, dialogue, pacing, continuity, character consistency and more — and each marks the words it is about, right in your chapter. Select a passage and press Rewrite to have it tightened, simplified or put in another tense, or ask for a summary of what a chapter actually says. The AI only suggests: nothing changes in your book until you press Apply.
-
Format the book
Where: Format → Editions · Themes · Format · Covers
Choose your editions — ebook, paperback, hardcover, large print and more — and a theme, then fine-tune trim size (every KDP paperback size is a preset), margins, running heads and chapter openings while the preview shows real pages and real e-reader screens. Build a print-ready PDF and an EPUB. Upload your front cover and, once the PDF is built and the page count is real, StoriesDen lays out the full wrap with the right spine width.
-
Publish
Where: Publish · Online stores · Print · Serial
Write the blurb, keywords and categories, then add a listing for each store you choose. StoriesDen shows what each store still needs and the steps to go live; you do the upload on the store's own site. The storefront guides explain each of the ten places it covers.
-
Launch, then see what sold
Where: Promote · Newsletter · Track → Success · Reviews
Plan the launch and book promotions with their lead times, find comparable titles and search keywords, and draft newsletters — which you send from your own email service. Afterwards, import your KDP, Draft2Digital or Royal Road reports (or any spreadsheet) to see what sold, where and when.
Every AI button says what it costs before you press it. The free plan includes a small number of AI actions each month; the Author plan includes far more. See the plans.
